In Olympia Suzanne taught Modern Dance at The Evergreen State College as well as ballet, jazz, and modern dance at the Johansen School of Ballet, and continued performing as a dancer with “Ballet Northwest” and in locally produced modern dance concerts, and she co-founded the liturgical dance group “The Word is Dance!”

Since moving to the Tri-Cities in 1993, Suzanne has taught modern dance, ballet, jazz, and creative dance at several places including, The Academy of Children’s Theatre, Etta’s Dance Studio, Richland Community Schools, Pasco LifeQuest, Children’s Garden Montessori School, WSU Tri-Cities, and six years at The Ballet Center where she founded her own dance company,  “Ricochet - Modern Dance Theater.”  The Ballet Center closed in 2002.

Michele Solano

Michele Solano, a Tri-City native, has been dancing since the age of four and has studied ballet, tap and jazz. As she got older, her love of jazz took over, and ballet and tap slid to the back burner. At age 8 she was introduced to gymnastics and studied that through junior high. Upon starting at Kennewick High School, gymnastics gave way to dance yet again as Michele was one of only a few freshman selected for the dance team. That year started her choreography training. She choreographed routines throughout the year, including the state competition routine. And was also third in the state that year for jazz. She trained with Terri Rowe for many years, before eventually leaving for college at UW. Michele received her degree in acting from UW in 2001, and while in Seattle Michele was introduced to hip hop dancing by Daniel Cruz at Westlake Dance Center. In addition, Michele danced with the Divas of Dance troupe, performing both at Seattle Pride Festival and 2006 HRC Gala. Michele got back into choreography in 2007 when she choreographed Seussical the Musical for the City of Renton’s Summer Teen Musical Program at Carco Theatre under the direction of Vincent Orduna. Since then she’s choreographed Once Upon a Mattress and Footloose for Carco, as well as the Pajama Game and a Christmas Carol for high schools in the Renton area. She has also been an acting coach at Carco since 2002, working on productions such as Into the Woods, Grease, and Cinderella. Since relocating back to the Tri-Cities from Seattle in 2008, Michele has performed in Rabbit Hole at the Richland Players, Rumors for Broken Leg Entertainment Dinner Theatre, and most recently as Joanne in CBC’s summer showcase production of RENT. And while performing is fun, Michele takes more pleasure in creating dances and teaching them to students eager to learn. She takes more pride in her students’ success than her own.
